Food safety and hygiene are essential in the food industry to protect consumers from foodborne illnesses and food poisoning. Recently, reports about foodborne illnesses and safety issues led to the creation of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, requiring a large number of qualified professionals in the field.
To address this need, the School of Agriculture (SoA) at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has introduced a unique Bachelor’s degree program in Food Safety and Quality Management through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode. This program is designed to meet the educational needs of those working in the food processing and food safety sectors.
