Specialized Medical and Education Programmes Admissions

IGNOU also accepts the admission of some specific Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificate Programmes in medicine and early childhood special education. The interested candidates may apply through the official portal by clicking on the button furnished below.

It is important to note that this is a permanent process that cannot be reversed. Official Instructions for Filling the IGNOU Online Application Form

In case you are a first-time application to IGNOU then the following are the steps that you need to follow to complete your application successfully.

Step 1: Select Your Programme

Access the Online Admission System home page and hit the programme tab of the corresponding programme. In program details, read keenly the following:

  • Eligibility criteria
  • Duration
  • Fee structure
  • Additional significant data

It is advisable to get a copy of the Common Prospectus and peruse rules of the University stated therein prior to initiating the application.

Step 2: Registration

Keep the following in mind:

  • Use your personal email and mobile number; both will be verified via OTP.
  • User name should be between 8 and 16 characters.
  • The password should be alphanumeric and should have 8 -16 characters.
  • When all the required information is entered, click on Submit.

Your Username will be mailed to you immediately through email and SMS.

Step 3: Do not forget your Username and Password to log in again

Step 4: In case you have the account, just press the button “Login” and use the account

Step 5: Ease the necessary papers

You must provide scanned copies of the following before filling the application:

  • Passport-size photograph (less than 100 KB)
  • Signature (less than 100 KB)
  • Educational qualifications (below 200 KB)
  • Experience certificate (when it is necessary, less than 200 KB)
  • Disability certificate SC/ST at OBC (below 200 KB)

Step 6: Upload Documents and Preview Form

  • Send scanned copies on the basis of original documents.
  • After uploading, click Next to preview your form.
  • Save or print a copy for your records.

Note: In case using a cybercafe, you must make sure that you are typing all the relevant details properly and uploading all the necessary documents.

Step 7: Payment of Fees

The application fee will be paid through:

  • Credit Card (Master/Visa)
  • Debit Card (Master/Visa/Rupay)
  • Net Banking

Registration Fee, Cancellation and Refund Policy

  • Registration Fee: Non-refundable
  • Refund Pre-Admission Confirmation: Full refund is allowed
  • Refund After Confirmation:
    • 15% of programme fee (up to Rs. 2,000) will be deducted for cancellations after admission confirmation.
    • For students opting for soft copy study material, refund will be after deducting the registration fee only.
    • Students who received fee exemption and paid only registration & development fees will get only the development fee refunded.
  • No refund will be processed after 60 days from the closing date of admissions.

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is a university which has a very broad variety of academic programmes and which are offered both in distance learning and online programs. These are Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG), Certificate and Diploma programs. The University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) recognise all IGNOU programmes and therefore, their acceptance anywhere in India and internationally.

1. Undergraduate (UG) Programmes

IGNOU undergraduate programmes are offered to students who have successfully passed their 10+ 2 (Class 12) examinations in a recognised board.
