IGNOU Re-registration January/July 2025
Re-registration for the July 2025 session is now open. The last date to apply is 30th September 2025.
Students can submit their re-registration forms for the next year or semester through this portal and pay the fees online. This portal is for both Indian and international students studying at the university. Make sure you complete your re-registration before the last date.
What is IGNOU Re-Registration?
IGNOU re-registration is the process for students who are already studying at IGNOU and want to continue their course in the next semester or year. For example, if a student has completed the first year of BA, BSc, BCom, MA, or MBA, they must complete re-registration to move ahead in the same program.
Re-registration is different from fresh admission. Fresh admission is for new students who are applying to IGNOU for the first time. On the other hand, re-registration is only for existing students who are already enrolled. Without re-registration, students may face delays in getting study material, assignments, and exams.
The process of re-registration is very simple and fully online. Students must go to the IGNOU portal and log in using their enrollment number. After logging in, they need to select their subjects, fill in the form with correct details, and pay the required fee. If re-registration is done on time, students can continue their studies without any gap. It also helps them avoid paying late fees and makes sure they remain eligible for exams.

Difference Between IGNOU Re-Registration and Fresh Admission
When it comes to continuing or starting studies at IGNOU, students often get confused between re-registration and fresh admission. Both terms are different and serve separate purposes.
IGNOU Re-registration is only for existing students who are already enrolled in a program. It allows them to move to the next semester or year of the same course. For example, if a student has completed the first year of a BA or MA, they must apply for IGNOU re-registration to continue into the second year. It ensures a smooth continuation of studies without any gap.
On the other hand, Fresh Admission is for new students who want to join IGNOU for the first time. This applies to anyone applying for UG, PG, diploma, or certificate programs. Fresh admission requires new registration, document submission, and fee payment.
In short, re-registration is for continuing students, while fresh admission is for beginners who are joining IGNOU for a new course.
